Fred DeLuca opened his first sandwich restaurant back in 1965 in Connecticut at the age of 17 to help with college tuition, with the help of a $1,000 investment from family friend, Dr. Peter Buck.
His guests shared his love for freshly-made sandwiches and, with growing demand, he decided to make his concept available to other Entrepreneurs through franchising.
Today, there are approximately 37,000 Subway restaurants in more than 110 Countries worldwide making Subway® one of the largest restaurant brands around the world.
